Terribly sad to see the closure of Stonebridge Playground. Labour councillors awarded themselves a pay rise larger than the cost of keeping it open. They can’t keep blaming the Government for their incompetence.
I grew up in a staunchly Labour household and was surprised when I studied politics to find that my values were in fact Conservative: a belief that family not government should be at the heart of our communities; that it is through work not state hand-outs that people have the greatest chance of social mobility; that health and education need to be paid for by a strong economy; that aspiration should be rewarded not punished. Labour run Brent Council has a spending power of £2,511 per household compared to the national average of £2,193. Despite this, their mismanagement means they now have to make some painful cuts to services.
